THE RRA KC CERTIFICATE REGISTRATION-NO.-NAMING CHNAGED FROM MSIP TO R

The KC certificate registration no.-naming was changed

By the Article No.2017-49(2017.12.5 Official Public Notice by RRA) on the Revision of the Conformity Assessment for Broadcasting and Communication Equipment, from 5 December 2017, the first part of the registration number on the KC(RRA) certificate was changed from MSIP to R.

Before

The noticeable point is the target for this change is a new product not a product already certified. All products already certified are no need to be changed. You can use as it is. However, in case of new product which first needs to be certified, this change will be applied.

To put in details, the previous number was started with "MSIP-XXX-..." but it was changed that starts with R-XXX-.... However, considering that the company prepares labels in advance, until 30 June 2018, label naming is allowed with MSIP-xxx or R-xxx in the market. However, since 1 July 2018, R-XXX-... only should be used in the market. Refer the following table.

5 December 2017 ~ 1 July 2018 ~
Old MSIP (already certified)
1) Certificate no. MSIP MSIP (No Change)
2) Marking MSIP MSIP (No Change)
New Product (first certification)
1) Certificate no. R R
2) Marking R or MSIP(temporary) R

EMC Standards KN32(EMI) and KN35(EMS) for Multimedia Equipment Replacing KN22 / KN24(ITE)

EMC Standards KN32(EMI) and KN35(EMS) for Multimedia Equipment Replacing KN22 / KN24(ITE)

In accordance with the RRA announcement, beginning on January 1, 2016, Korea standards KN32 / KN35(Multimedia) is replacing KN 22 / KN 24(ITE), KN 13 / KN 20(AV) for KC EMC approval. KN 32 is specifically replacing KN 13 and KN 24, and KN 35 replaces KN 20 and KN 24. First announcement about two new KN standards for multimedia equipment(MME) AC or DC rated with power supply under 600 V, published on June 17, 2013(RRA annnoucement 2013-24). Its objective is to establish the requirements and test methods for electromagnetic compatibility emission and immunity. With the implementation of mandatory KN 32 / KN35, the KN 13/20 and KN22/24 standards is being replaced from January 1, 2016.

For customers with products that have been approved previously, don't have to do any complement action. Products certified to the old standards will still be market eligible through 2017 KN32/KN35 standards typically require a modest amount of additional testing to meet the new requirements:

RS(Radiated Susceptibility/immunity) : Frequency 1- 6Ghz (EMI) addition, Additional 5 spot frequencies
Conducted Immunity : Test Levels are lower in some frequency ranges
Surge I/O : Only applies if EUT has outdoor cables
Sound Pressure Testing : Only with speaker (ex, notebook, headset, audio player)
Mesurement Distance :

“The new KN32/KN35 standards have added new requirements regarding radiated immunity, conducted immunity and surge I/O (for outdoor cables). Any new audio, IT, and multimedia products bound for the Korean market will need to meet the new standards,”
Note: Any product or products containing audio ports and/or containing TV broadcast receivers, FM receivers or modulators are not considered IT products; however, they will still fall under KN32/KN35 as MME, and will require more testing than an IT product.
